Individual Therapy

2146239679Therapy is a journey toward understanding and healing.

I’ve often thought about what therapy means to me and the type of therapy I would like to receive. Therapy allows another person to feel supported, heard, seen, and understood with a compassionate ear.

The therapy uses a depth of knowledge to help guide a person along the way while showing the person a path for them to follow on the road to healing.

Seeking individual therapy can be an intimidating first step. You may find it hard to admit that you’ve lost your authentic Self somewhere down the journey of life and may need help finding it again.

During the process, confusion, feeling alone or overwhelmed about even where to begin. However you feel at the beginning, please know that you will not be taking this journey alone.

Therapy is about providing a safe space for healing.

Once, a client mentioned that I had created a sanctuary that allows my clients to feel safe, serene, and at peace.

This feeling is what I want my clients to experience. My goal is always to create an environment that brings all people a sense of warmth, comfort, and peace. I want people to feel this as they enter because that is an essential first step in healing.

Through loving guidance and support, we will begin your road to healing.

Jenna* first came to counseling seeking help with relationships and feeling stuck in life. When I first met Jenna, she seemed a little standoffish yet confident on the outside.

As I got to know Jenna, she was timid and didn’t think much of herself. She was fearful of people and had a pattern of being consistently pulled into abusive relationships.

Whether the relationships involved romance or friendships, they resulted in emotional, verbal, and sometimes physical abuse. Jenna seemed to gravitate toward the same pattern while blaming herself for causing the abuse.

Blaming herself created self-loathing and self-hate, which caused her to feel disconnected from herself and others. She felt alone, never fitting in, distrustful of others, leading to no support in life.

Our work started by focusing on the underlying cause.

As Jenna and I worked on the mind-body connection and intuitive therapy, her behavioral patterns and explanations for self-blame became apparent.

As a child, Jenna grew up in a very abusive household, where her mother was very physically, verbally, and emotionally abusive. Her sister was also fearful of the mother but joined the mother and became a bully to Jenna.

Jenna’s parents divorced at a very young age, and although her father was still active in her life, he turned a blind eye to the abuse and was not emotionally present. Therefore, Jenna felt very alone and disconnected, with no one to turn to for help. As a result, Jenna became susceptible to bullies in her life.

Jenna grew up fearful, distrustful, alone, and feeling that she had to take care of herself. Her seeming confidence was a show of her self-protection.

Through our work together, Jenna learned to see the patterns in her traumas and why they continued. Through the mind-body connection and intuitive therapy, Jenna began understanding why she suffered from self-worth trauma, social anxiety disorder, and depression.

Jenna began to understand how she, as a child, took in the rejection and abuse as if she did something to cause it. She was able to see that her parents both suffered from personal traumas and were unknowingly repeating their patterns of abuse because they didn’t know how to provide love and support. Jenna realized that she needed to find that love and support within herself because self-love was the key to what was missing in her life.

Through our work, Jenna began to develop an understanding and compassion for herself at a depth level. She began to feel self-love and self-acceptance and see herself in a new light, allowing her to step into her power.

Jenna’s physical, emotional, and spiritual body felt lighter, at ease, and joyful. Jenna gained compassion and love for herself through hard work and not giving up on herself. Now, she teaches and helps others heal and shows them how to stand in their power.
